Maximum Ames Records has announced a new Valentine’s Day release called “Maximum Love Volume 1: A Golden Love Affair.” People who head over to www.maximumamesrecords.com and hand over $5 will get two download codes for the EP — one for you, and one that will be sent to your V-Day lover/crush/paramour along with a personal message. You can even choose to be anonymous and secret admirer-y about it. The seven-track EP includes songs from Mumford’s Nate Logsdon, Poison Control Center’s Patrick Tape Fleming, Christopher the Conquered’s Chris Ford and more.

Pick o’ the Week: For those who feel like Valentine’s Day is a little too soft and cuddly, The Hull Avenue Tavern has you taken care of. Starting at 9 p.m. on the 14th, it’s got Agrinex, Saint Christopher and all the hard-hitting metal action you could want. There’s no cover, and it’s sure to be loud. Mahalo. CV
