At 8 p.m on Tuesday, Nov. 12, DG’s Taphouse in Ames is playing host to the fantastically titled “Night Of Iowa Musical Diversity And Eclecticism” featuring Dark Mirror and Strong Like Bear, as well as guitarist Dylan Boyle and Peace, Love and Stuff front woman Lavonne McRoberts. The event is being held to raise cash to fund “A Corny Christmas,” a Christmas album featuring Iowa acts including Christopher the Conquered, Brother Trucker, North of Grand and Poison Control Center. For more information on the project, check out http://acornychristmas.blogspot.com.

The Sound Notes Pick o’ the Week is going on over at the Temple for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, Nov. 13, as Max Wellman plays selections from his “Songbook Project.” The show starts at 7 p.m., and tickets are available through www.maxwellmanmusic.com for $20. Mahalo. CV
