Shredding event on May Day.

McGowen Hurst Clark Smith (MHCS) invites you to the annual ShredItOnMayDay event on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. This community event is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of their West Des Moines office at 1601 West Lakes Parkway. This free event is open to the public and gives the community a variety of opportunities to kickstart spring cleaning, support others, and enjoy some
refreshing treats while doing so. The 2019 #ShredItOnMayDay event will include the following:

Securely Shred Documents: The Shred It truck will highlight the event allowing you to to securely shred and recycle outdated personal and/or business documents such as address labels from junk mail, receipts, bank statements, birth certificate copies, canceled/voided checks, credit card bills, carbon copies summaries/receipts, credit reports/histories, documents containing names, maiden name, addresses, phone numbers, social security numbers, and emails, investments, stocks, property transactions, passwords or PIN numbers, driver’s licenses or items with number on it, employee pay stubs, employment records, expired passports/visas, unlaminated ID cards – college, state, military, legal documents, items with a signature – leases, contracts, letters, luggage tags, medical and dental records, pre‐approved applications, receipts with checking account numbers, report cards, resumes, old tax forms, transcripts, travel itineraries, used airline tickets, utility bills. This suggested list of items to shred is not limited to or required. Use your best judgement on what to shred and/or ask your trusted professional.

Securely Recycle/Shred Electronics: Goodwill of Central Iowa will collect the following working or nonworking electronics including monitors, desktop computers and laptop computers, printers, scanners, external hard drives, and internal hard drives, keyboards, mice, speakers with or without cables, cords and cables including power cords and USB cables, ink and toner cartridges that are full, partial used and/or empty, software with license key, tablets, and cell phones. Through Goodwill of Central Iowa’s partnership with Dell Reconnect, 272,613 pounds of e‐waste was kept out of local landfills in 2018. Donate Blood: The LifeServe Blood Center blood mobile will be at MHCS from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to collect blood donations. Currently, there is a critical need of O negative, A negative, AB negative, and O positive. Enjoy a free Ice Cream Treat: Is there any better way to kick off your May than with an ice cream treat? Bring your materials to shred, donate blood, and enjoy an ice cream item from The Outside Scoop between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
