Travel

The Des Moines City Council approved funding for travel expenses for David Jahn, municipal arborist, to visit Tucson, Arizona, from Dec. 1-5. Jahn will attend the American Society of Consulting Arborists Annual Conference, which will discuss topics including climate change, genetics, tree growth and aging, green infrastructure benefits, biological control of wood decay, drought, insects and other environmental stress factors, predicting the future using tree ring research, tree growth and development, and harvesting urban timber. This comes at a cost of $3,055 to local taxpayers. CV
