The Des Moines City Council approved travel expenses for Kevin Moran, senior park planner, and Ben Page, parks and recreations director, to visit Las Vegas, Nevada, from Sept. 13-17. The two attended the 2015 National Park and Recreation Association Annual Conference – Great Ideas Start Here. The conference provided opportunities to learn about the latest trends in park and recreation programs and practices. The city of Des Moines was also a finalist for the organization’s Gold Medal Award. This came at a combined cost of $3,429.44 to local taxpayers. CV
