The Des Moines City Council approved the funding of travel expenses for Lieutenants David Ness and Chris Hardy to attend training at the Police Executive Research Forum – Senior Management Institute in Boston, Massachusetts, from May 30 to June 19. The course provides intensive training in executive management and leadership from experts in business and government. Leaders in policing and academia will present the latest information about body cameras, surveillance and social media, in addition to traditional leadership topics including accountability, transparency, management theories and community trust. This trip comes at a cost of $20,360 to taxpayers. CV
