Head out to the ’burbs for the Waukee Arts Festival, where you can view art and catch some free live music. On Friday, July 14, The End: A Tribute to the Beatles plays on the mainstage. School of Rock and Brittany Sword also perform. On July 15, the mainstage act is Not Quite Brothers; earlier concerts include June Bugs and Girls Rock DSM!

Amythyst Kiah performs at xBk Live on July 6. Her music is considered a cross between old-time folk, blues, country, alt-rock and contemporary. Highlights of the past year include opening for The Who and a tour with rising country star Cam. Tickets start at $18.

Too much time on your hands? Attend an outdoor Field Daze concert at Laurdisen Amphitheater and catch iconic Styx on July 14, with opener Jet Black Roses. General admission tickets start at $45. 

Nights in the Heights at Windsor Height’s Colby Park features Tuesday outdoor concerts. On July 11, Bob Pace and the Muddy Walter Band; July 18, Burnin’ Sensations; July 25, Get Off My Lawn and Aug. 1, Sons of Gladys Kravitz.
