Most everyone who loves Queen recognizes how the band’s opera influences permeate their music, so it’s only fitting to meld an orchestra with a powerhouse singer and rock band. Catch the unique concert, The Music of Queen, performed with the Des Moines Symphony Oct. 15 at the Des Moines Civic Center. The Symphony, along with a full rock band, includes Broadway musician and vocalist MiG Ayesa. Tickets from $35-$90.

The Waukee Historical Society is celebrating Wauktoberfest on Oct. 8. at the Triangle Park. Musicians from the Des Moines Polka Club roll out the barrel first, followed by Gimikk. Tickets $10 in advance, which includes a drink ticket; $15 at the door. Visit www.waukeehistory.org for info.
