Summertime means attending an outdoor concert with a cool beverage. Last month, CITYVIEW provided a packed Summer Arts and Entertainment Guide with abundant music options. If you missed it, you can still access it at www.dmcityview.com. Jackson Browne, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician, entertains at the Des Moines Civic Center on June 21, starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $49.50-$79.50, available at www.mydesmoinesperformingarts.org. Beatles drummer Ringo Starr brings his All Starr Band to Stephens Auditorium in Ames on Sept. 5. The 2018 All Starr Band includes Colin Hay from Men at Work, Steve Lukather from Toto, Gregg Rolie from Santana, and Graham Gouldman of 10cc. Each band member brings to the concert his most popular songs. Tickets run from $69-$175 and are available from Ticketmaster. Shock-rocker Alice Cooper brings his “A Paranormal Evening with Alice Cooper” to the Civic Center on Oct. 23 at 8 p.m. No word yet if the “School’s Out” rocker will bring snakes or blood to the stage. Tickets range from $39.50-$85 with limited VIP seating from $210-$335. For more information, visit www.mydesmoinesperformingarts.org. Animals and music combine for the Zoo Brew at Blank Park Zoo every Wednesday in June, July and August. Admission includes viewing the animals, beverage samples (get there early!) and live local music. Sorry kiddos — ages 21 and older only. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; the cost is $14, or free for zoo members. ♦
