This August, don’t restrict your live music attendance to festivals like the Iowa State Fair and 515 Alive. The Rocket Summer, a one-man alt-rock project, is touring in honor of the 10th anniversary of “Do You Feel,” The Rocket Summer’s major label debut. Wooly’s is set to host a mid-tour show on Aug. 15. Tickets run between $15 and $17. Country heavyweight Rascal Flatts will be performing at the Des Moines Golf and Country Club on Saturday, Aug. 19 as part of the Solheim Cup festivities. Tickets are $60. Jake Owen is scheduled to perform the day before; tickets for that show are $50 — save $10 by purchasing a Friday/Saturday combo for $100; all options can be purchased through the following link: solheimcupusa.com/event-tickets/ concert-tickets. Blue October is 11 years removed from its breakout record, “Foiled.” The soulful rock group is scheduled to play the third-to-last show of the summer at the Simon Estes Riverfront Amphitheater on Aug. 26. Iowa-native Bonne Finken will support Blue October. The cost of the show ranges from $30 to $35. Want to avoid the outdoor heat? An all-local show is scheduled for the same night at Gas Lamp. The Fuss, a Des Moines-based, old-school rock group — think 1960s garage rock — is hosting an album release party. Local rock outfit SIRES and singer-songwriter Courtney Krause will be performing at the party as well. ♦
