Local indie label Station 1 Records is getting ready for its first summer in the city and is kicking things off with a pre-release listening party for its first release, Sires’ “Soul for Sale.” The event takes place at the Des Moines Social Club, 900 Mulberry St., on Thursday, May 12 at 6 p.m. Space will be limited, so get there early.

This week’s Pick o’ the Week allows you to take advantage of the sweet spring air. Get on down to the Riverwalk Hub Spot, 215 Water St. on Thursday, May 12 at 6 p.m. to check out Stutterin’ Jimmy & The Goosebumps. The Hub Spot is one of the most interesting and under-used spaces in the downtown corridor and provides a great place to listen to tunes and enjoy the spring weather. Mahalo. CV
