On Sunday, May 31, Girls Rock! Des Moines, in conjunction with the Des Moines Social Club, Confluence Brewery and Mullets, is presenting its “Girls Rock! Pedal Jam” benefit to raise money for the Girls Rock! program. Head down to the Social Club at noon on Sunday with your bike and follow the event for drinks and live music at stops throughout downtown. The event starts with Hot Lady Band performing at the Social Club, before moving on to Confluence and Patresa Hartman, Jenny Kohls and Mary McAdams. From there, bikers head to Mullet’s for Ramona & The Slimdudes, before finishing up back at the Social Club for Peace, Love & Stuff, Sara & the Meanies and Caroline Smith. Tickets range from $25 to $150, depending on your fun tolerance levels, and can be had at tikly.com/grdsm.

This week’s Pick o’ the Week is down at Ritual Cafe on Friday, May 29, when you can check out Ritual’s “Women Writers in the Round” series, this month featuring Aimee Terpening, Kat Darling, Abbie Sawyer and Mary McAdams.
