The Des Moines Social Club has announced its production lineup for the 2014-15 season of its Kum n Go Theater season. Shows in the upcoming season include the musicals “Carrie: The Musical,” “Fame Jr” and “Rent,” along with productions of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf,” “A Christmas Carol,” “The Diary of Anne Frank” and more. The Des Moines Music Coalition (DMMC) has announced the sessions and schedule for the second annual Music University, held on the Drake University campus Oct. 4 and 5. Speakers this year will include Matisyahu and Husker Du’s Bob Mould, as well as a panel on public and independent radio, featuring Iowa Public Radio’s Mark Simmet and John Pemble, The Des Moines Register’s Joe Lawler and Cityview’s…well, me. Pick o’ the Week: Head on over to the Briar Patch Amphitheater in Madison County and check out The Bigfoot Ball on Saturday, Sept. 20. Hosted by local music blog The Bigfoot Diaries, the Ball features the Rumpke Mountain Boys, as well as local acts The Maw, King of the Tramps and Johnny Reeferseed & the Highrollers.
