Sound Notes

12/18/2013

This past Thursday, Des Moines’ music scene lost a couple of great, passionate folks behind the scenes, as Dec. 12 marked the last day at work for Becky Migas and Chewi Lockhart. The diminutive Migas, who was the events committee chair for the Des Moines Music Coalition and oversaw 2012’s Gross Domestic Product and Little BIG Fest, has left her position at Hoyt Sherman Place to become the assistant talent buyer for Sherpa Concerts in Denver, Colo. Meanwhile Lockhart — the giant man with the bigger heart — is leaving West Des Moines’ venerable Val Air Ballroom for Memorial Auditorium in Burlington. Best of luck to both of them in their new positions.

The Sound Notes Pick o’ the Week is over at Gas Lamp, as Johnny Reeferseed and The High Rollers and Agents of Mischief get together on Saturday, Dec. 21 to celebrate Keith Richards’ birthday; $10 gets you in, and the fun starts at 9 p.m.

Merry Christmas, Soundlings. Mahalo. CV
