Sound Notes

11/13/2013

Valley Junction needs holiday performers for its annual “Jingle in the Junction,” beging held on Nov, 21, Dec. 5 and Dec. 12. Instrumental and vocal performers interested in lending to the festivities should contact Jamie Lamb at office@valleyjunction.com or 222-3642.

Vaudeville Mews said goodbye to its outdoor PBR Bar this past week. One of the busier spots on Fourth Street on nice summer nights. The PBR Bar was axed (literally) to clear space for the Hotel Randolph renovation. The space was given an informal farewell on Saturday night during the Twins/Karen Meat/Wolves in the Attic show, as local DJ Richie Daggers took a group of patrons out back — PBRs in hand — for a “21 shotgun(ned beer) salute.”

The Sound Notes Pick o’ the Week is Little BIG Fest. Three venues, 17 acts, one night, from 5 p.m. to midnight on Friday, Nov. 15. Tickets for the House of Bricks shows, including Apocalyso, Tantric Boys Choir, Max Wellman, Aquamarine Dream Machine, Doctor Murdock, Old Scratch Revival Singers, Captains of the Flowered Porch, Mumford’s and Diplomats of Solid Sound, are $7. At Wooly’s, day-of tickets are $20 for Chad Elliott with Bonita Crowe, Jacob Country and the Damaged Goods, The Uniphonics and The Soul Rebels. The Nemo Orchestra, GoodcaT, SP3 and Mighty Shady all perform a 21-and over show at Beechwood Lounge for free. All-access passes are on sale through Midwestix for $20-$25.
