Alternative Latin rock band Café Tacvba brings its 30th anniversary tour to the Val Air Ballroom on Aug. 30. The band won a Grammy award for Best Latin Rock Album, and its album “Re” was named as one of Rolling Stones Top 10 Greatest Latin Rock Albums. Tickets cost $40.
Social Irrigation is a weekly summer music concert series at the Des Moines Botanical Center featuring local live music each Thursday. On July 11, NOLA Jazz Band plays New Orleans-influenced blues and jazz music. $10 for adults.
The Maytags, a Des Moines-based classic soul band, released a new album “Meriweather” on June 28. You can catch them at Ankeny SummerFest on July 14 or at Hinterland on Aug. 3.
The newly renovated Franklin Theater, housed in a former junior high school with the same name, will host 10,000 Maniacs in concert on Tuesday, July 16 at 4801 Franklin in Des Moines. Tickets cost $35-$65 and are available at Eventbrite. ♦
