SUGAR HIGH

A resident of the 1300 block of East 27th Court called police just after 1:30 p.m. and said he pulled into his back yard with his truck when the suspect came up from behind him and punched him in the face and side of the head causing injuries. The suspect then took the victim’s empty wallet and a grocery bag from his possession. The bag contained his Lorazepam prescription, candy and chocolate milk. However, the victim later admitted the location of the robbery was at an apartment complex on Southwest Ninth, but he didn’t want to involve his friends who live there.

DUMBASS OF THE DAY

Police were called to Unity Point Hospital around 2 p.m. to follow up on a stabbing report. The incident occurred at the 2500 block of County Line Road, where the victim and his girlfriend had gone to meet with someone selling a trailer on Craig’s List. No one was on scene when they arrived, so the victim walked around the trailer to look at it. When he retuned to the car, he had a pocket knife in his hand. His girlfriend had told him to put it away before he hurt himself. That’s when he slipped and fell on the knife, which impaled him. With consent to search the vehicle, police found a marijuana pipe and seized the contraband.

RUNNING FARE

A cab driver called police after a dispute over the fare led to him getting punched in the face, which broke his glasses, while at Walgreens, 4415 Douglas Ave., just after 1 a.m. They went to Walgreens, and the driver was asked to wait. When the suspect returned, he was upset that the meter was still running. He said he wasn’t paying that total, so the driver asked them to get out. Though the suspects paid $10, a $13 fee remained unpaid. CV
