A LONG LIMP TO THE ER

HARD-OF-HEARING NEIGHBORS

CNA - Stop HIV Iowa

Police were called to the 1400 block of 17th Street regarding a fight and the report of two shots fired. When they arrived, they located two shell casings in the street. Several people were outside but said they heard nothing. Police interrogated the witnesses, processed the scene and impounded a vehicle, but no suspects were named.

GETTIN’ GASSY

Police assisted fire fighters at the 4100 block of Columbia on Sept. 17. The entire house smelled like natural gas, which was determined to be leaking from the stove due to a burner being left on. Fire officials also discovered a valve in the basement had been opened and was leaking gas, too. When the man who occupies the house arrived, he started yelling, “They’re trying to murder me!” The man was staying at the house alone, because his wife had recently left him. Officials believe the gas leak was suspicious, but no arrests were made.

ROCKED-N-ROLLED

A man reported to police that another man had hit him in the back of the head with his own guitar at the 1800 block of Capitol around 9:20 p.m. on Sept. 15. The victim named the suspect, but police could not locate him to make an arrest. CV
