KICK SOME BRASS

Two men got into a fight at the 1200 block of East 22nd Street on July 22 at 12:30 p.m. One of the men came to the other’s girlfriend’s house. He was told to leave but refused. Instead, he punched the victim while wearing brass knuckles. Once police were called, the suspect fled and sought medical attention. He later told police he would turn himself in after he was released from the hospital. No arrests have been made, but a no-contact order was issued.

SHOTS FIRED

CNA - Stop HIV Iowa

A woman reported being shot by what she thought were pellets or BBs from an air-soft gun while entering her apartment complex located on the 2800 block of Fleur Drive on July 23. She was first struck in the ankle and then in the knee. She heard the pops coming from the tree line near the apartment but never saw the suspect who is still unidentified at this time.

THE HANDYMAN CAN

A female reported on July 22 that her handyman had overstayed his welcome. She hired him to fix some things around her home, located on the 2700 block of John Patterson Road, but claims that he made this his own residence and used her address for his ID. She believes he drugged her with Xanax and GHB, tied her up, took her car and “cleaned out” her bank account. No arrests have been made.

STRIPPED OF CASH

An exotic dancer at a Des Moines’ gentleman’s club claims she was held captive between the hours of 5 and 11:10 a.m. at a Motel 6 on the 4900 block of East 14th Street. She had just finished her shift and left with an unknown man to go to the hotel. She admitted she was under the influence of marijuana when the man pushed her into the door as she tried to leave and stole $500 from her. The motel is handing over the security video footage, and an investigation is pending. CV
