The Iowa State Fair Patrol reported a break in at the fairground’s grandstand on July 9 at 1:33 a.m. When officers arrived, they found two men described as smelling strongly of alcohol and physically unstable. The suspects admitted to stealing candy and beer from inside the Campbell’s Concession and were then arrested. One of the men puked in the officer’s squad car then requested a cigarette. When the officer informed the man he did not smoke, he became enraged and dented the police vehicle by headbutting it. Both men were charged with burglary, criminal trespass and public intox.
Just waving hello
A woman reports a man broke into her trailer home located on the 2000 block of Southeast 14th Street on July 7 at 10 p.m. The suspect failed to take anything from the home but did reportedly shake his “junk” at the female resident. She yelled at him until he left in his silk pants, according to police reports.
Keep the change
Three residents on the 3000 block of Linworth Lane reported cases of fraud on July 6 between the hours of 2 and 3 p.m. Each of them was holding a garage sale and was paid with fake $20 bills for the purchase of their items. One of the residents recalled giving the man $18.20 in change. Each bill had the same serial number and is being processed into evidence. No suspects have been identified. CV
