DIDN’T MAKE THE CUT
The victim told police she heard a knock at her front door followed by a knock at the back door at her home at the 600 block of 44th Street around 10:30 p.m. She didn’t answer either. She then heard someone cutting the screen to a window. When she went to see what was going on, the suspects fled. Officers found two sets of footprints outside, a Nike shoe and a boot. A different officer is working on a similar case.
GETTING ALMOST EVEN
A woman evicted the occupants from a house she owns at 2900 block of East Washington. The neighbor of the property, located at the 2900 block of East Washington, called her to report that the front window was broken. The owner arrived to find the detached garage burglarized. Missing items include a lawnmower ($1,000), three bundles of shingles ($60), a window and three rolls of aluminum cladding ($300).
UNSWAYED
A faculty supervisor at Fort Des Moines Correctional Facility called police at the request of a resident around 11:40 p.m. After being out for a while, the alleged victim was given the customary breath test and pat down. He said the residential officer repeatedly moved the PBT away as he started to breath into it, and while he was being patted down the residential officer hit him in the neck and ribs. He requested to go to Broadlawns for difficulty breathing and wanted a case to be made. Upon watching video footage, it was revealed that the residential officer gave the breath test only once and never hit Haines. CV
