SWEETWATER THIEF

A 16-year-old girl called police around 1 a.m. on Dec. 9 and said she saw someone trying to get into the vehicles across the street from her house at the 6900 block of Sweetwater Drive. Upon investigation, police found a 17-year-old male suspect walking away from a vehicle in the street with a flashlight and apparently drunk. Upon searching the suspect, police found women’s jewelry, a pair of sunglasses and Target gift cards in his pockets. He was arrested for public intox and third-degree burglary, processed at Polk County Jail and taken to Juvenile Corrections.

Several burglaries were reported on Dec. 6: At the 1600 block of East 24th Street a 32-inch flat screen TV, a 17-inch HP laptop and an envelope full of cash were reported stolen; at the 1800 block of Watrous Avenue a computer mouse and bag, two thumb drives, a DVD burner, an MP3 player, a docking station and a Playstation 2 and memory card, 15 games and 30 DVDs, valued at almost $5,000 were reported stolen; at the 3400 block of East 35th Street a jewelry box was reported stolen; and at the 700 block of Arthur Street on Dec. 7 a $1,400 Gateway laptop and a $400 32-inch Insignia flat screen TV were reported stolen. Police did not say if these incidents were connected. CV
