Changes coming to Jordan Creek Town Center

Jordan Creek is getting more comfortable this fall. Soft Surroundings — a women’s clothing, accessories and beauty store, which also sells goods for around the home — is slated to occupy the Tommy Hilfiger’s former location in Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines. The incoming retailer is based out of St. Louis.

Look good without working out

Also heading into Jordan Creek Town Center is Athleta, an affiliate of Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy.  The out-of-state newbie is Gap’s fastest growing brand, catering to females who enjoy wearing workout wear as everyday attire. The store will fill the spot left open by the now-closed Ragstock.

AT&T’s “Store of the Future” recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony at its new location at 490 South 68th St. in West Des Moines near Jordan Creek Town Center. The store is designed to allow customers to try out the newest technology in the areas of everyday use, home security, entertainment, music and more. It is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Call 515-223-9241 or visit www.att.com.

123 TVs at new Altoona sports bar

Altoona has a new sports bar with 123 TVs. Spectators Sports Bar and Grill has TVs in the tables for small groups, a giant 220-inch video screen for big groups and personalized seats with their own TV for people looking for focus. The new bar is equipped with an arcade and a Las Vegas-style sports ticker that parlays real-time scores. It serves wings, burgers and sandwiches for lunch and dinner, and breakfast is available as well. Peace Tree Brewing expanding to East Village

A new tap room is coming to the southern end of the East Village. Peace Tree Brewing, a Knoxville-based company, is planning to place a new brewery at 317 E. Court Ave. It could be open for business by fall. Renovations on the building are currently underway by developer and building owner Jake Christensen. The 3,700-square-foot facility will be the first brewery in the East Village, and the space will allow barrel-aged beers, specialty brews and a patio. The company plans to keep its establishment in Knoxville open.

Pleasant Hill restaurant with craft beer and American cuisine

Social is a new restaurant in Pleasant Hill offering modern American cuisine and more than two-dozen craft beers. The menu consists of appetizers, salads, burgers and a variety of signature dishes like macaroni and cheese, cavatelli and grilled brats. Home Plate Diner

Cobblestone Market in Urbandale is the new location of Home Plate Diner. The diner occupies the former location of Great China, which closed at the end of December. Choose an independent adventure

Plot Twist Book Store will have its grand opening on April 30, but the store is currently open for business in Ankeny at 502 N.
