Generation Y or “Millennials” can confuse marketers



The Millennial age group is now the largest customer group in history. I am part of this age group. People born in
Generation Y have grown up with technology. We use and consume media every day. We tend to have shorter
attention spans. We have seen the world grow so much in our lifetime that we don’t always know how it “used to be.”

How do you market to us? Make sure your message stays short, truthful and personalized. We place more value
on the experiences than the products themselves. While it can be challenging to adjust marketing to this new
generation, it is one that has incredible potential to respond and reward brands that know how to reach it.
