City of Bondurant Celebrated Groundbreaking of Silo Commons Outdoor amphitheater and event lawn mark a major milestone in the transformation of the Grain District

10/5/2026

BONDURANT, Iowa – The City of Bondurant celebrated the groundbreaking of Silo Commons, a new outdoor amphitheater and event lawn that will serve as a centerpiece of the community’s emerging Grain District entertainment destination.

The groundbreaking marked another significant step in the transformation of the former 25-acre Landus Cooperative site into a vibrant mixed-use district that honors Bondurant’s agricultural heritage while creating new opportunities for recreation, culture, and economic growth.

The project team includes Henkel Construction Company serving as Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) and ISG serving as project architect. Together with the City of Bondurant, the team is helping bring to life a one-of-a-kind destination that blends history, arts, recreation, and community engagement.

Located adjacent to the site’s iconic 140-foot-tall grain silos, Silo Commons was designed to host live performances, festivals, community celebrations, and outdoor events. The project also includes trail connections and public gathering spaces intended to bring residents and visitors together throughout the year.

A focal point of the celebration was the unveiling of “A Place to Call Home,” a large-scale mural created by internationally recognized artist duo Yanoe x Zoueh. Inspired by Iowa’s native prairie flowers, natural landscapes, and Bondurant’s agricultural roots, the mural transformed the historic silos into a striking work of public art overlooking the amphitheater and event lawn.
