Dew Tour Des Moines announces invited athlete lineup & festival schedule

6/29/2022

Carlsbad, Calif. (June 30, 2022) – Dew Tour, powered by MTN DEW®, the leading action sports competition series and festival, will kick off one month from today at the Lauridsen Skatepark in Des Moines, Iowa. Dew Tour is an invite-only skateboard competition that focuses on Street and Park disciplines, featuring both traditional and adaptive competitions. Celebrating its second year in Des Moines, and 17th year overall, this year’s event will be held for two days, July 29 and 30, and will take place later in the day, ending each night under the lights.

“This year has no restrictions in place, which means there will be no tickets required for entry. It’s also a non-Olympic year, so only the best of the best skaters will be competing and the competition format will be straight to finals,” said Dew Tour General Manager Courtney Gresik. “We are also bringing back the Battle of the Shops and our VIP program. Fans will get to enjoy a full Dew Tour Experience this year, with more partner activations and the addition of some of the area’s best food trucks and beverages. We can’t wait to get back to Des Moines to celebrate Dew Tour in full effect.”

The competition field sizes include 12 skateboarders for men and eight for women in both Individual Park and Street disciplines and eight men and six women in the adaptive competitions. Each competition is straight to finals, where athletes are allotted three 45-second runs (two runs for adaptive), with the best run counting as the athlete’s final score. Skateboarders are judged on overall impression on a 1–100-point scale.

This year, nearly every single 2020 Olympic Skateboard podium athlete will be competing, including Park skaters Cory Juneau (USA), Keegan Palmer (AUS), Sakura Yosozumi (JPN), Sky Brown (GBR) and Street Skaters Yuto Horigome (JPN), Jagger Eaton (USA), Rayssa Leal (BRA) and Momiji Nishiya (JPN). Fan favorites and Olympians like Nyjah Huston (USA), MTN DEW athletes Mariah Duran (USA) and Sean Malto (USA), Team Toyota athletes Jordyn Barratt (USA) and Evan Strong (USA), Lizzie Armanto (FIN) and Aurelien Giraud (FRA), among many more will stack the field of skateboarding’s elite. The most updated list of scheduled athletes can be found at DewTour.com.

The Dew Tour’s Battle of the Shops will be returning in 2022, featuring five midwest-based skate shops competing for shop glory. Each shop will have two team skaters competing in a jam format on the street course in two heats. The top three shops will move on to a final where the winners will be placed.
