Second wave of artists announced for 80/35 Music Festival in Des Moines

3/22/2022

DES MOINES (March 22, 2022) – The nonprofit 80/35 Music Festival announces the second wave of artists for the 13th edition of the festival, taking place July 8 – 9, 2022. 80/35 is presented by the Greater Des Moines Music Coalition (DMMC), and the festival serves to further the nonprofit’s goal of fostering a stronger and more diverse music community in Des Moines.

19 additional acts join the lineup, with additional artists on the emerging artist and Iowa Public Radio stages yet to be announced. Over 50 bands perform during the two-day festival in downtown Des Moines’ Western Gateway Park on one paid stage and four free stages. In addition, single day tickets for the festival are on sale now.
Des Moines hip hop act B.Well, American Idol winner and Iowa native Maddie Poppe, and 17 more Iowa bands join the bill. In keeping with the festival’s mission of elevating Iowa musicians, over half of the acts performing at the festival are based in or have ties to Iowa.

Due to scheduling issues, previously announced artist Tkay Maidza will no longer be able to perform at this year’s festival. A replacement act will be announced soon.

About 80/35
As the signature event of the Des Moines Music Coalition, 80/35 draws over 30,000 people to downtown Des Moines annually since 2008 to celebrate new music from Iowa and beyond. After twelve editions, the festival paused in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 2022 will be the thirteenth edition of 80/35.

Proceeds from the festival are invested back into the community through programs that work to support musicians and music professionals of all ages in Des Moines. This includes music education programs with Des Moines Public Schools, music summer camps, professional development programs for musicians, and local music showcases including Gross Domestic Product.
