Hy-Vee Partners with the Historic Valley Junction Foundation to Host Pop-Up COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics at the Valley Junction Farmers’ Markets; Individuals Can Get a Free COVID-19 Vaccine at Upcoming Farmers’ Markets in West Des Moines

Hy-Vee, Inc. announces today that in partnership with the Historic Valley Junction Foundation, it will host a series of COVID-19 vaccination clinics at the Valley Junction Farmers’ Markets in West Des Moines.

The first clinic will be Thursday, May 6, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. No appointment will be required. Individuals will be able to choose between the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine or Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine. Pfizer-BioNTech is available for individuals 16 years of age and older and requires two doses, and the Janssen vaccine is available for individuals 18 years of age and older and requires only one dose. Individuals who receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine can receive their second dose of the vaccine at their local Hy-Vee Pharmacy 21 days after their first dose.

It is recommended (but not required) that vaccine recipients bring the following to their vaccination: insurance card (if they have insurance) and Medicare Part B red, white and blue card (if Medicare recipient); and photo ID. Masks are required. If individuals do not have insurance, they can still be vaccinated.

Additional COVID-19 vaccine pop-up clinics are scheduled during the following farmers’ markets:

· Thursday, May 20
· Thursday, May 27
· Thursday, June 3
· Thursday, June 10

This is Valley Junction’s 33rd year of hosting its farmers’ market.
