“The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life — and her father’s crown — in jeopardy.

“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” isn’t just a great Spider-Man film; it’s arguably the greatest Spider-Man film ever made. Now we’ll get to see not one, not two, but six different universes in the film, each with its own distinct art style, as Miles and his band of inter-dimensional Spideys team up to take on a new threat. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters the Spider Society, a team of Spider-People charged with protecting the Multiverse’s very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must set out on his own to save those he loves most.

“Asteroid City”

PG-13 | 104 minutes
Director: Wes Anderson
Writers: Wes Anderson, Roman Coppola
Stars: Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks

Like most of Anderson’s stories, “Asteroid City” takes place in a fictional but vibrant setting where strangers meet and bring about transformative changes in each other’s lives, through comedy, romance and drama. In 1955, a large group of students and their parents gather from across the country to join the Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention, held in a desert town. The idea is to bring people together through rest and recreation, scholarly competition and other entertaining activities. But this busy schedule is interrupted by “unspecified events” that would change the world and lives of the people, particularly those attending the convention. ♦
