Trivia, big potatoes and even bigger drinks at Quinton’s

Quinton’s serves large portions of fantastic food.

If you work downtown, you’ve likely taken a lunch break or two at Quinton’s Bar and Deli. And if, in fact, you have ventured to the popular sports bar on East Grand, you are well aware that it takes pride in the phrase “more for your money.”

Quinton’s serves up monster proportions of its fantastic American food; true to its name, the restaurant offers sports bar classics like burgers and wings to deli favorites like soup in a bread bowl. In case your mouth isn’t watering already, take a look at the “Spuds” section on the menu, which showcases a variety of decked-out giant potatoes. They come in full and half sizes, and the full version can easily make for two or three meals.

As stated above, the food is good and reasonably priced. But it doesn’t stop there. Daily drink specials are potentially the wisest investment customers will make all week. On Monday nights, come in for $4 “big girl” mixers, margaritas and draft beers. The big girls at Quinton’s refer to its big drink size, which is a whopping 23 ounces.

It’s definitely one of the top spots for lunch, but the fun continues on at Quinton’s long past the noon hour. With happy hour specials every night — and all day Sundays — TVs on every wall and arcade games all around, there’s plenty to stay entertained. There’s even a foosball table inside the doors and darts near the back — perfect for a leg stretch between innings, quarters, matches or any other sport visitors came in to watch.

The real kick, though, comes on Wednesday nights with Pub Trivia from 8-11 p.m. Teams can enter to play several themed rounds of trivia for a chance to win a $40 gift card for first place and a $15 gift card for second. Categories for each round are posted weekly ahead of time, giving the crowd a chance to brush up on some of the more obscure topics.

Trivia players should follow Quinton’s on Facebook for the extra help, as well as the extra points from the weekly Facebook Question. Winners earn 10 points upon arrival at trivia night to get their team started right. Questions range from silly (Why did the chicken cross the road?) to sporty (Who will win the next World Cup match?) to deeply philosophical (Who is the hottest Disney princess and why?).

Wednesday nights are all about winning at this bar/restaurant. Door prizes are given out throughout the night in addition to the first- and second-place awards. In order to keep audiences happy and coming back often, the trivia games go on week to week, so there’s a bigger prize for overall winners at the end of each month before the next round gets started.

Need another reason to attend trivia night? It also happens to be Wine Wednesday: all wine is half price by the bottle or glass. Other specials include $3 domestic big girls and $4 bombs. We’ll see you there. CV
