Des Moines’ own Slipnot plays on Sept. 21 at Knotfest at Water Works Park. In addition, catch these bands: Till Lindemann, Knocked Loose, Hatebreed, Poison The Well, GWAR, Vended, Dying Wish, Zulu, Twin Temple, Holy Wars, Swollen Teeth, Spine and Dose. General admission is $125; grab three of your friends for a four-pack, and ticket prices drop to $75 each.  

Blues Traveler plays deep cuts from its “Four” album during their upcoming tour, “30 Years of Four,” at Val Air Ballroom on Sept. 14. General admission tickets $45 from www.axs.com. 

Smashing Pumpkins makes its way to Waukee’s Vibrant Music Hall during its “World Is A Vampire” Tour on Aug. 20. Opening band is the Glorious Sons. General admission standing tickets cost $118.50 or snag a seat for $145 to $200.

The World Food and Music festival takes place Aug. 23-25. Since 2005, the event has showcased a variety of international food, music and entertainment in downtown Des Moines’ Western Gateway Park.
