LSI Lutheran Services in Iowa Announces Leadership Transition
6/1/2026Des Moines, IA – Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) today announced that President & Chief Executive
Officer Renee Hardman will be stepping down from her role effective July 1 to pursue other interests.
“Renee has played an important role in advancing our mission and supporting the communities we serve across the state,” said Michael Schmidt, Board Chair. “We are grateful for her dedication and contributions to LSI and wish her continued success in her future endeavors.”
During her tenure, Renee helped strengthen programs, build community partnerships, and further LSI’s commitment to serving individuals and families throughout Iowa.
The organization’s Board of Directors will begin the process of identifying the next CEO while working closely with leadership and staff to ensure a smooth transition.
“Our mission remains unchanged,” said Michael Schmidt, Board Chair. “As a nonprofit organization, we remain fully committed to continuing to serve our communities throughout the state with the same dedication, compassion, and excellence our partners and supporters have come to expect.”
LSI will continue operating without interruption and remains focused on delivering programs and services that make a meaningful impact in communities across Iowa.
Roni Knief, Chief Financial Officer, will serve as Acting CEO during the leadership transition.
“LSI has a strong foundation, an exceptional team, and a mission that continues to guide everything we do,” said Roni Knief, Acting CEO. “As Acting CEO, I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition while maintaining the high-quality services and support that individuals, families, and communities across Iowa rely on every day.”
