8/6/2025The month of August often consists of sticky heat and frazzled parents and their back-to-school duties. Yet, live music doesn’t end when school begins. There’s always an excuse for a night out to listen to live music.
Ingersoll Live! is the ultimate block party located just off Ingersoll Avenue. On Aug. 23, two stages offer music. At the main stage starting at 6 p.m. is Suede, followed by The Other Brothers. On the studio one stage, beginning at 5 p.m., is the Weary Ramblers, followed by Run Dog and The Swampland Jewels.
Summer Sundays at the Jamie Hurd Amphitheater in West Des Moines include a full month of outdoor tunes. On Aug. 10, Punching Pandas; Aug. 17, Jordan Messerole; Aug. 24, Joshua Sinclair; and Aug. 31, The Lamplighters. Free concerts start at 6 p.m.
Head over to Cumming at the Middlebrook Farmhouse for Fridays at the Farm. Vendors and live music begin at 4:30 p.m. Bring your chairs and kids, too. On Aug. 8, Crowfoot Rakes; Aug. 15, Brian Herrin; Aug. 22, Gladys Lite; and Aug. 28, Royce Johns.
