Take me out to the ballgame… and a concert. The Principal Park’s Spring Into Summer Concert Series takes place in May. On Friday, May 23, the Pork Tornadoes perform after the Iowa Cubs game. On Saturday, May 24, enjoy a concert by Craig Campbell. General admission tickets cost $15 per night or $25 for both nights. 

Made in the Midwest is a new Des Moines Performing Arts concert series that highlights the artistry of local musicians in the Temple Theater. On May 9, Abbie Sawyer performs selections from her new album, “Persimmon.” On May 30, Heartland with the Finesse, a soul-pop band, performs. Valley Junction’s Music in the Junction outdoor concert series returns. On May 1, Megaballad plays; May 8, Gimikk; May 15, Bittersweet Nation; May 22, Cardinal Sound; and May 29, The Barrelhouse Rockets. Free admission.

The Central Iowa Blues Society and Cellar Winery in Madrid are hosting SpringFest on Sunday, May 25. The outdoor concert includes The Janeys from 2-3:30 p.m., Kevin Burt & Friends, 4-5:30 p.m., and The Cold Stares, 6-7:30 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs for this free event.
