Des Moines’ own Slipnot plays on Sept. 21 at Knotfest at Water Works Park. Blues Traveler plays deep cuts from its “Four” album during their upcoming tour, “30 Years of Four,” at Val Air Ballroom on Sept. 14. General admission tickets $45 from www.axs.com. 

Smashing Pumpkins makes its way to Waukee’s Vibrant Music Hall during its “World Is A Vampire” Tour on Aug. 20. Opening band is the Glorious Sons. General admission standing tickets cost $118.50 or snag a seat for $145 to $200.

The World Food and Music festival takes place Aug. 23-25. Since 2005, the event has showcased a variety of international food, music and entertainment in downtown Des Moines’ Western Gateway Park.
