The Center Street Farmers’ Market
August 10 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, repeating until September 14, 2022
The Center Street Farmers’ Market will run Wednesdays from 4-6 pm beginning June 8 until September 14. The market is open to the general public and can be found on Oakridge Drive between 15th Street and Keo Way. It is being facilitated by Oakridge Neighborhood to make fresh produce readily available to residents, neighbors and others in the community.
Vendors will be selling produce, eggs, dairy and meats, baked goods, health smoothies and juices, hair and body care products, and more! The market will accept EBT SNAP cards and offer Double Up Food Bucks. Community partners will also be on hand to share timely and useful resources.
The name of The Center Street Farmers’ Market is a nod to the once bustling nearby Center Street business district that was a vital part of daily life of African Americans in Des Moines. Freeway construction and urban renewal projects brought an end to the area by the end of the 1950s.
