The Des Moines City Council approved travel funding for Sergeant Kenneth Brown to visit Atlanta, Georgia, Aug. 9-16. Brown will attend the 43rd Annual National Black Police Association – National Education and Training Conference, which provides an opportunity to network with other local, state and federal officers of color to obtain insight on recruitment and retention of viable new black officers. In addition, the conference offers many learning opportunities in a workshop environment. This comes at a cost of $2,776 to taxpayers. CV
