Now that most venues have reopened, here’s your chance to catch a show at xBk — a Drake/Dogtown music venue that holds 250 patrons. On Aug. 18, The Claudettes take the stage. This Chicago band with primo piano blues offers “a whole lotta heart.” Tickets are $10 in advance, $13 day of show. Red Wanting Blue, an indie rock and roll band, plays on Aug. 20. CITYVIEW interviewed the band last year, when lead singer Scott Terry explained their name. “Our name means going after something you know will never happen, but you try anyway. It means we’re stubborn enough to try, despite limitations given to us.” Tickets are $15 in advance; $20 day of show.

Blue October, a grunge-alt-rock band, plays at Val-Air Ballroom on Sept. 18 with tickets starting at $35.

The Waukee Palooza takes place at Centennial Park in Waukee on Aug. 28. This is the Rotary Club of Waukee’s third annual music festival. The event begins at 2 p.m. with performances by local youth musicians, The Prayse Band, 3 p.m.; J. Jeffrey Messerole, 4:15 p.m.; Tom Buckmiller & The Tone Tailors, 5:30 p.m.; followed by the headline band at 7 p.m., Big Time Grain Co.  Tickets are $20 for the all-ages event. ♦
