Say goodbye to 2019 and hello to 2020. How can you best celebrate the New Year? With live music, of course. Keep reading for your musical New Year’s Eve options. Former Abby Normal guitarist and singer Devon Miller rejoins his original band, Standing Hampton, which plays at the Prairie Meadows Finish Line Show Lounge at 9 p.m. The Sheet is the opener, starting at 5 p.m. Smash Park in West Des Moines offers two bands in its line-up — Decoy and Pie in the Sky. The Sons of Gladys Kravitz performs at the Down Under Lounge in Clive. Mickey’s Irish Pub in Waukee is hosting the Dick Danger Band, with new drummer Dale Rupp, formerly with Abby Normal. Adventureland is home to the NYE Country Bash, with performances by Royce Johns Band, Brad Morgan Band and Red Dirt Renegades. $25. Wooly’s in downtown Des Moines offers a duo of entertainment, including Bird Child and Pianopalooza. $20. The Snacks drummer/keyboard duo plays at the Whiskey House in Ankeny. The Black Hat Heroes heads to Kenny’s Garage in Waukee. View aerial artists and acrobatics, set to symphony music for “Cirque at The Symphony” with the Des Moines Symphony. Tickets run from $35-$90. ♦
