Attend the all-day/evening Gross Domestic Product (GDP) music festival on Nov. 23 featuring
musicians from Des Moines and across Iowa. The GDP festival began in 2006 and is coordinated
by the Des Moines Music Coalition. The goal is to help support Iowa musicians. The festival’s
concerts take place at Vaudeville Mews and 4th Street Theater in downtown Des Moines. More
than 20 musicians from all genres will play, including up-and-comers Eleanor Grace; hip-hop,
Uncle Tito; Americana, Ducharme Jones; and heavy metal, Druids. For more information, visit
www.desmoinesmc.com. Tickets cost $5-$15 from Midwestix. Country stars Justin Moore and
Tracy Lawrence bring their “Late Nights and Longnecks” tour to the Des Moines Civic Center
on March 26. Tickets start at $39.50, available from the Des Moines Performing Arts. Need a
John, Paul, George and Ringo fix? Then attend a concert by Beatles tribute band Rocky Raccoon.
They perform at the Whiskey House on Nov. 16. On Thanksgiving weekend, take your turkey-stuffed guests to hear some local live music. On Nov. 30, the Pork Tornadoes, along with Decoy,
perform at Wooly’s. Stark Raving Madge starts just in time for happy hour at the Gas Lamp. The
Dick Danger Band plays at Mickey’s in Waukee. Or, head to the Whiskey House in Ankeny to
hear the Bob Pace Band. ♦
