Iowa Public Radio kicks off another year of its Studio One Underground live broadcast series on Thursday, Jan. 4 (artist TBA) at The Basement at the Des Moines Social Club. The event takes place from 7-10 p.m. and is free. “Antichrist Superstar” singer Marilyn Manson performs at Seven Flags on Tuesday, Jan. 30. The doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $40-45 and can be purchased at the door or online at www.sevenflagseventcenter.com. Wooly’s hosts a handful of notable acts this month. Hinterland alum and old-timey-singer-but-actually-is-a-youngish-guy Pokey LaFarge returns to Des Moines on Sunday, Jan. 21 at Wooly’s. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20-22. Later that week, local legends The Nadas release their new album “One Louder” with a show on Friday, Jan. 26. The doors open at 7 p.m., and the shows starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20-25. Tickets for both shows can be purchased at the door or online at www.woolysdm.com. ♦
