Thus far, 2016 has been a hard year in the world of artist deaths. April shows no signs of slowing the trend, as Merle Haggard passed away last week, on his 79th birthday.

Diana Ross announced a show at the Civic Center this July 21. Tickets went on sale last Friday, and are available at www.desmoinesperformingarts.org.

Speaking of show announcements, Peter Frampton is coming alive at Hoyt Sherman Place on July 15. Tickets are available at the Hoyt Sherman box office or through ticketmaster.

Tears for Fears will perform at Hoyt Sherman Place on Monday, July 11 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 15 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased at the Hoyt Sherman Place Box Office, charge by phone at 800-745-3000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.

Hoyt Sherman Place also announced this week that Lyle Lovett and The Large Band will be performing there on Sunday, July 17 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale this Friday at noon. This week’s Pick o’ the Week is down at Vaudeville Mews on Friday, April 15.
