Davenport has announced the creation of a Bix Beiderbecke Museum to honor the legendary jazz trumpeter who died in 1931 at the age of 28. Plans for the museum include a 15,000-seat theater and youth classes. The museum is expected to open in 2017.

Local rockers Holy White Hounds has signed a record deal with New York-based label Razor & Tie. The label will be releasing a remastered version of the Hounds’ album “Sparkle Sparkle” next month, as well as a re-release of the band’s single, “Switchblade.” Congrats, guys.

This week’s Pick o’ the Week is at Gas Lamp on Friday, Feb. 12. Get down there at 9 p.m and check out Surf Zombies, playing along with North by North and Kickstart the Sun. Admission is $7 at the door. Mahalo. CV
