A couple weeks ago, we told you about the grand opening show for new jazz club Noce. Now, the Max Wellman-run establishment has announced its first full month of programming, which will start January of 2016. Wellman himself will hold down the mic roughly 30 percent of the time, fronting the Des Moines Big Band on Friday nights and playing with bassist Steve Charlson and saxophonist Julius Brooks every Sunday. Thursdays and Saturdays will feature a rotating slate of performers, while the Des Moines Big Band will play every Wednesday. Check out www.nocedsm.com for a full schedule and ticketing information.

This week’s Pick o’ the Week goes to Gas Lamp. Do yourself a favor and do not miss the show on Saturday, Nov. 28, as Kansas City’s Katie Guillen & The Girls return with some of the best blues music in the area. They’ll be joined by our own Sara Routh and Courtney Krause, adding two of Des Moines’ best vocalists to the mix. Get there. Mahalo. CV
