Hoyt Sherman Place has been added to the Iowa Rock ’n’ Roll Music Association’s 2015 Hall of Fame induction class. Over the years, the historic Sherman Hill venue has been home to some of the most wide-ranging, important shows in the city, and it has consistently provided a gorgeous backdrop for artists like Brandi Carlile, Loretta Lynn, Kris Kristofferson and Steve Vai. Other members of the Class of 2015 include Dick Dale, Jan and Dean, Scott Cochran and the Riviera Ballroom.
Your pick o’ the week is at Lefty’s Aug. 22 as The Hollowmen reunite for its first show in 25 years, joined by Squidboy, North of Grand and Easy Fruit. Gig starts at 9 p.m., and admission is $8 at the door. Mahalo. CV
