Sound Notes

Classic country music fans are going to be treated to previously unreleased Hank Williams material next month. Omnivore Recordings has re-mastered 24 tracks of previously unknown recordings from tapes found in the archives in Creston, Iowa, radio station KSIB-AM. Originally packaged in 15-minute radio segments, the tapes feature some classic Williams songs, along with standards like “Oh! Susanna,” as well as some rare between song banter. The programs had been almost completely forgotten about over time, and KSIB’s tapes are thought to be the only copies still in existence.

The Pick o’ the Week this week is Java Joes on Thursday, April 24. Kelly Howerton plays the coffee shop’s 4th Street Theater, starting at 7 p.m. Mahalo.  CV
