Thursdays Music in the Junction season lineup was announced, featuring the usuals, plus some newcomers: May will have Comfort Zone, Bella Soul, Gimikk, Get Off My Lawn and SP3; June includes Decoy, Abby Normal, Brother Trucker and All Things King; in July there is Fahrenheit, Final Mix, The Blue Band and Randy Burk & the Prisoners; August has Burning Down the House, Flipside, El Dorados and Malcolm Wells & the Two Timers; and September ends it all with North of Grand, Rebyl Road, The James Biehn Band and Sumpin’ Doo. The show is always free during Valley Junction’s weekly farmers market and starts at 5:30 p.m.

The Des Moines Metro Arts Alliance is hosting it’s second annual fundraiser, “A Taste of Spring.” This year also marks the inaugural presentation of the Metro Arts Alliance’s AWE (Art Within Everything) Awards. Two awards will be presented, one to an individual and one to a local organization. The event will also feature food, local art and live music. For more information, visit www.metroarts.org.

The Pick o’ the Week is on Sunday, April 6, as iconic American composer and pianist Philip Glass performs at Drake’s Sheslow Auditorium at 1 p.m. Mahalo. CV
