In its ongoing quest to make the Downtown Firehouse the only building in Des Moines you’ll ever need to visit ever again, the Des Moines Social Club has announced that the location will house a bar, culinary school and recording school — this in addition to the planned restaurant, theater, art gallery and office and classroom spaces. The recording studio will be available to local artists at a discounted rate and will also feature an Introduction to Studio Recording class.

The Pick o’ the Week is over at Gas Lamp, where Mighty Shady, Crunk Witch, Prettygirlhatemachine and Space Camp all get together on Wednesday, Jan. 8 to help you party ’til you puke; $6 gets you in the door, and things get rolling at 9 p.m. Mahalo. CV
