The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its inductees for 2014. While there will always be annual talk of the snubs — no Hall for Deep Purple or N.W.A. — the group that did get in was entirely deserving: Nirvana became Hall of Famers in its first year of eligibility and will be joined by KISS, Linda Ronstadt, Cat Stevens, Hall and Oats and Peter Gabriel. Non-performing inductees include Brian Epstein, Andrew Oldham and the E-Street Band, which were “Award for Musical Excellence” designees.
This edition of the Pick o’ the Week is over at Gas Lamp on Saturday, Dec. 28. There you can see Iowa City’s Velcro Moxie as well as Des Moines’ own Holy White Hounds, Hath No Fury and Bonne Finken and The Collective. Doors are at 9 p.m., and you can take it all in for just $5. It’s also a show celebrating the birthday of a local music scribe, so you can feel free to come say “hi.” Mahalo. CV
