Sound Notes

11/20/2013

Des Moines said goodbye to a one-of-a-kind soul this past week as Linda Bisignano, longtime owner of Chuck’s Restaurant in Highland Park, was laid to rest. Bisignano — beloved by virtually everyone who knew her and a long-time patron of Des Moines’ local music — was given a send off by a crowd of more than 1,000 people this past Saturday. The service was highlighted by a heartfelt musical performance, featuring local singers and musicians including Gina Gedler, Steve Charlson, Scott Smith, Julius Brooks, Janey Hooper, Max Wellman, Heather Best MacLennan, Gary Jackson, Steve George and Tina Haase Findlay. It was a beautiful tribute to a beautiful soul.

The Sound Notes Pick o’ the Week is down at Wooly’s this week, as House of Large Sizes, Twins and Holy White Hounds rock the venue on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The event, which is open to folks age 16 and over, kicks off at 8 p.m., and tickets are $10 in advance through www.woolysdm.com or $12 at the door. Mahalo. CV
